Buying a good router
If you have a high-speed internet connection, you simply want a good router. It doesn't get any harder than that. Today, we use the Internet for a lot of speed-demanding activities. We stream videos, upload heavy documents and pictures, play games and so on.
There's probably nothing worse than ending up in a situation where the router you're using becomes a bottleneck that limits your speed. Not only does this lead to frustration, but it also has the effect of making you pay for an internet speed that you can't even use. In this way, a good router ensures that you get the most out of your internet.
Fast router
The key is to buy a fast router that not only matches the speed of your internet connection, but also has enough capacity to keep everyone in your household connected at the same time. But how fast a router do you need? If you're a family, or household, that streams a lot of high-definition video, we recommend buying at least a gigabit router. A router that fast will allow you, or if there are several of you in the household, to surf unrestricted and undisturbed.
Dual or triple band router
When choosing a product, you should definitely consider a dual band router. But what is it? The two most common bands are 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. And only dual band routers are capable of handling both. What are the benefits of dual band? As wireless routers have become very popular, even some of the bands have become overloaded. That's why 5Ghz has become something of a high-speed band.
Many people choose to keep their work PCs connected to 2.4Ghz while their media devices stay on 5Ghz. This provides an efficient distribution and often higher speed. These are the benefits of dual band. If you want to be really extreme, you can also consider a router with triple band, or so-called tri-band.
