Blue ray players and DVD players have clearly become one of the necessities of the modern age. At least if you want to watch movies. Those of us who remember VHS and similar analogue alternatives know how powerless we were against the inevitable poor quality. These digital options, however, both based on the MPEG standard, offer a medium for film that neither degrades with time nor requires particularly tedious handling. However, to take advantage of the benefits, a Blue Ray player or a DVD player that actually supports the medium in question is of course required.
A Blue ray player probably offers by far the best video experience at the moment. It was launched as a replacement for DVD and enables HDTV in 720p, 1080p and even 2160p. All tremendous high resolutions. As such, it is the only medium that allows such high resolution in such a small area. But to take advantage of Blue ray, of course, you need to actually have a Blue ray player.
DVD players really revolutionised the video market. After VHS had dominated the home movie industry for a long time, DVD was launched. This gave people the opportunity to experience high-definition sound and images outside the cinema. Beyond this, it was a unique development that people had access to a medium that did not deteriorate over time. Unlike VHS, a DVD could be stored for many years without any noticeable deterioration in quality. But as with Blue ray, these films of course require that you actually have access to a DVD player. Whichever way you look at it, DVD has largely become the standard for movies, and many of the old classics are now available only in this format.
